Dutch ZorgSaam Hospital and Philips enter into 15-year strategic partnership agreement

Royal Philips and the ZorgSaam Hospital announced the signing of a 15-year strategic partnership agreement, through which Philips will provide ZorgSaam with a wide range of integrated solutions for the diagnosis and treatment of patients in the region of Zeeland-Flanders in the southwest of the Netherlands. Philips will deliver diagnostic imaging and image-guided therapy solutions, as well as healthcare informatics, relevant staff training, and equipment management and maintenance. In addition, the two organizations will investigate new ways to enhance the continuity and safety of care, both inside and outside the hospital. This is the first time that ZorgSaam has chosen a single long-term technology partner to enhance the quality of care and productivity throughout the hospital.

“By working together with Philips, we will be assured of the best health technology solutions for our patient care over a period of 15 years, enabling timely and confident diagnoses and optimal treatment options,” said Lodewijk de Beukelaar, Member of the Executive Board and Director of ZorgSaam. “This really is a win-win-win situation for ZorgSaam, for Philips, and even more importantly for the population, general practitioners and specialists in the Dutch region of Zeeland-Flanders.”

“An integrated approach is absolutely essential to improving the quality of care and productivity within the budgetary constraints that many healthcare providers have to deal with,” said Henk Valk, CEO Philips Benelux. “By bringing together the knowledge and expertise of ZorgSaam and Philips, along with our advanced health technology solutions, we can support ZorgSaam to continuously improve the delivery of care for their patient population.”

As part of the agreement, Philips has already installed its digital Ingenia 3T MRI system with Ambient Experience in-bore Connect at Zorgsaam, and will equip the hospital with Philips’ diagnostic ultrasound.  Additionally, Philips’ latest healthcare informatics solutions will be installed, such as its IntelliSpace Portal, for advanced visual analysis and quantification of images, and Intellispace Cardiovascular, a multi-modality image and information management solution to streamline cardiology care. Zorgsaam will also be provided with an enterprise informatics solution for radiation management and education. At a later stage, Philips will install the Azurion next-generation image-guided therapy platform, facilitating better workflows for the hospital’s interventional team and ensuring lower radiation doses for both care teams and patients. The hospital already uses Philips’ patient monitoring solutions.
