Deborah Heart and Lung Center Implements New Electronic Health Record System

Deborah Heart and Lung Center is upgrading to a new electronic health record system – MEDITECH 6.1.5.

The new system — nicknamed H.E.A.R.T., for Helping Employees Access Records Timely — will go live on December 1. This multi-million dollar system is a state-of-the-art electronic health record system which combines Deborah’s many different work flow systems — including clinical, financial, inventory, and scheduling — into one unified platform that covers both inpatient and outpatient services. Additionally, the new system provides sophisticated tools that will improve quality outcomes and streamline costs through upgraded metrics tracking, enhanced documentation, charge generation, and common inventory management, and offers a secure electronic health information exchange capability for communicating with other physicians and providers to deliver better patient care.

“After a year of extremely hard work by all our core team members, we are excited to launch the MEDITECH 6.1.5 platform,” said Richard Temple, Vice President, CIO at Deborah. “Bringing all the previous disparate Hospital systems into one organized network is a tremendous upgrade for us. On many levels this will enhance our overall hospital performance, but of greatest importance is the positive impact this will have on our patients through enhanced, integrated, and cost-effective care.”
